Shaving everyday is Bad for your Skin

JANUARY 3 , 2017

There are so many myths attached to shaving body hair. All these myths prevent us from shaving. Shaving is definitely better than any other hair removal technique as it is quick, less painful and inexpensive. It’s fair to say that the simple razor has pretty much revolutionised the world of hair removal and transformed it in many ways.

Although razors have been a great tool to help tackle fuzz, there have been many questions raised about the side effects and aftermath of its usage as a long-term solution to hair removal. There are so many myths about shaving that we hear on a day to day basis.

One of the most common myth is that shaving everyday is bad for your skin. This is absolutely untrue. Well it depends on what type of shaving you are doing and with which tools you are shaving. Shaving does not cause hair to grow back thicker, darker or faster.

Shaving  your skin everyday results to a faster and thicker hair growth? This is absolutely untrue. Hair growth is not determined by a razor or by shaving, but instead by genetics and hormones. Since the hair grows from the root and not the surface of the skin, the re-growth is not dependant on your razor or on shaving since you remove hair only from skin’s surface and not completely from the root. Other factors that could alter hair growth include your diet, medication, and physical/mental stress. Also, shaving everyday does not leave your skin looking dry and flaky! What a lot of people don't know is that shaving removes the top layer of your skin which is dead, resulting in exfoliation, so there is no cause for dry skin. Shaving will actually make your skin look smoother and brighter if you use a moisturiser immediately after the shave. Use a shaving gel/cream before shaving and a good moisturiser after shaving to keep you skin smooth and soft.

Let me know in the comment section below if you have heard of myths related to shaving before as well! Its now time to come together and break this stereotype !

See you until next time, till them Happy Blogging!
